A Carson City man who led police on a car chase in March was sentenced to one year in jail on Monday.

Gabriel Munoz, 33, was given credit for 55 days time served, and was also given a suspended year in jail on a charge of child endangerment and up to three years' probation.

According to court documents, Gabriel Munoz was driving a vehicle on Colorado Street on March 30 when a deputy tried to stop him for having an obstructed windshield.

Munoz fled, driving 55 mph in a 25 mph zone and narrowly avoiding an accident on Carson Street. His 2-year-old son, brother Cesar Munoz and another man were passengers.

During the chase, Gabriel Munoz allegedly called ahead to family about the chase and stopped at a Douglas County apartment complex to release his son to his in-laws there, family has said.

Cesar Munoz was arrested on the Parole and Probation warrant for failing to check in his with his probation officers and in April was sentenced to 12 to 36 months in prison, the balance of a charge of fraudulent use of a credit card for which he was on probation.
