Evening of dance, revolution at library
Carson City Library's Youth Department and Game Crazy are partnering for an afternoon of Dance, Dance, Revolution, 1-5 p.m., Tuesday in the library's auditorium, 900 N. Roop Street.
Teens will be able to participate in beginning, basic and difficult levels of DDR during the tournament. For more information contact 887-2244 ext.1006.
Info session set for virtual academy
Nevada Virtual Academy, hosts online information sessions, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., Thursday, Carson City Library, 900 N. Roop Street, and at 2 p.m. August 19, Starbucks, 2320 S. Carson Street, No. 1.
The events give families the opportunity to learn more about the tuition-free public school and how to enroll for the 2008-2009 year. Enrollment is now open for grades 4-8. All sessions are free and open to the public. For information, visit www.k12.com/nvva.
'Exploring Nevada' explores prison
Carson City Library will present State Archivist Guy Rocha "Exploring Nevada: The Capital and the Prison," 6:30 p.m., Wednesday in the library auditorium. The program about the Nevada State Prison is an episode of the "Exploring Nevada" series.

Post 'bail' to benefit March of Dimes
March of Dimes will be "arresting" leaders and citizens of Carson City, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Wednesday, at Gold Dust West, 2171 Highway 50 East.
The event is to raise "bail" in the form of donations for March of Dimes. Prematurity is growing at an alarming rate. Premature birth is the number one cause of newborn deaths. The March of Dimes mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature births and infant mortality through programs of research, community service, education and advocacy. D'Vine Wine, CASA team up for benefit
D'Vine Wine and CASA are partnering up to offer an evening of Fine Wine for Dreams Thursday at D'Vine Wine. Tickets are $20 per person and include a first glass of wine and appetizers. D'Vine Wine has offered that $12 of each ticket sold will go directly to CASA. Join in at 200 N. Stewart St. from 5 to 8 p.m., and enjoy wines and information on how you can help children who dream of a safe, permanent home.

Reno Blues Fest seeking volunteers
The Reno-Tahoe Blues Fest, known for bringing some of the biggest names in the business to the Reno-Tahoe area, is made possible in part by more than 100 volunteers. This year those volunteers will join the star-power of festival headliners Gladys Knight, The Whispers and Jonny Lang along with seven other blues artists to celebrate the fourth annual festival Aug. 16-17.

Volunteer positions include ushers, clean-up crew, runners, hospitality staff, information booth personnel and parking lot attendants.
A volunteer picnic and orientation is Aug. 15 and includes a walk-through of the venue, distribution of pertinent information and training for each volunteer section. Volunteers receive a festival T-shirt, a meal ticket valued at $10 for shift worked and two one-day general admission tickets.
