Kevin Fegert of Ferrous Supply has purchased an additional two acres at the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center, 10 miles east of Sparks on I-80. The cost was $128,177.

Two years ago, Fegert moved his company from Reno to the 3.25-acre site in TRI that he currently occupies.

Ferrous Supply distributes air, hydraulic and numerous other types of system filters. The company also has a separate division, Olympic Services, a dirt hauling company for servicing area projects.

Nominations are now being accepted for the 24th Annual Governor's Industry Appreciation Awards. The awards recognize new businesses that have moved to northern Nevada and existing companies experiencing substantial growth during the past year. Nominations for the "Distinguished Business of the Year" and "Honoree" awards are due August 8. Nomination forms and award criteria are available at www.giaa2008.com.

The 2008 Governor's Industry Appreciation Awards will be held Thursday, November 6 from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at John Ascuaga's Nugget.

Southwest Gas has been given the Industry Leader Accident Prevention Certificate award from the American Gas Association in recognition of its safety contribution to the natural gas industry for the eighth consecutive year.

Wells Fargo has announced the second annual Wells Fargo/United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Hispanic Businesswoman and Hispanic Businessman of the Year Awards.

Wells Fargo and the chamber will award $5,000 to one Hispanic businesswoman and one Hispanic businessman who are extraordinary entrepreneurs and are committed to their communities.

Each national winner's chamber (or a chamber selected by the winner) will be awarded a $1,500 cash prize, and the individual nominator will receive $1,000. The awards will be presented at the USHCC Annual Convention & Business Expo Pavilion, September 24-27 in Sacramento, Calif.
