Elko broadcaster nominated for public broadcasting board

ELKO " A longtime Elko broadcaster has been nominated by President Bush to serve on the Corporation for Public Broadcasting board of directors.

Lori Gilbert, news director at KELK-AM and KENV-TV, is one of three nominations announced by the White House last week.

Gilbert was nominated for the position by Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., the Senate majority leader.

If confirmed by the Senate, Gilbert will fill the remainder of a six-year term that expires in January 2012.

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting oversees distribution of federal money to public broadcasting entities around the nation.
