Donald R. Holcomb was born on April 25, 1932 in Chico, Calif. and passed away June 6, 2008 at his home in Stagecoach.

Donald joined the Navy and served during the Korean War. After the Navy he went to the Colorado School of the Mines and learned about surveying. He went to work for the City of San Jose, where he became a Licensed Land Surveyor in 1970, and worked as a surveyor for 19 years until he decided to start his own business in Clovis, Calif. He retired, closed

up his business and went to work for Cal Trans in Fresno, Calif. until he retired completely in 2003. He retired to Stagecoach.

When he wasn't surveying Donald enjoyed fishing and camping with his family. He spent the football season going to 49ers games with his friends and family. He will be missed greatly by everyone.

Don is survived by his wife of 44 years, JoAnn; daughter and son-in-law, Kristy (Holcomb) and Richard Ellis; son and daughter-in-law; Art and Barbra (Wallace) Holcomb; goddaughter Carole Conklin; step grandchildren Terrance and Christopher Morley, Richie, Leah and Blake Ellis; step great grandchildren Zachary, Skyler, and Cailyn Morley; brother-in-law Greg Robinson; mother-in-law Euna Robinson; sisters-in-law Pat Berg and Angela Moore; niece Donna Conner; great-nieces Kim Pastenieks, Kari Sawyer, Rebekah Conner, and Gina Conner; nephew Shelt Sawyer, and great-nephews Scott Conner, Shane Conner, and Tommy Sawyer; and several other family members, extended family members and several close friends.

He was preceded in death by first wife Carole Holcomb; parents Raynold and Nelle Holcomb; father-in-law Joe Robinson; in-laws Gladys and Jack Moore; sister and brother-in-law Tom and Ruby Sawyer; daughter Cheryl Holcomb and son Ray C. Holcomb.

His final trip will be to be with his son at Clovis Cemetery in Clovis, Calif.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Clovis Cemetery, Villa and Herndon Avenues.

Autumn Funerals and Cremations in Carson City is in charge of the final arrangements.
