City approves sewer rate hikes

The Carson City Board of Supervisors approved a 24 percent increase in sewer fees today.

The hike will take effect July 1 and will cost several large water users such as Mission Industries, the Carson Nugget and Casino Fandango thousands of dollars a year.

The city said the increase was necessary to keep up with maintenance and pay debts. Public works officials pointed out that sewer rates have actual dropped slightly over the past 20 years.
