Carson City


Legacy Corps seeking volunteers


The Nevada Legacy Corps is in need of volunteers for its Nevada Legacy Corps for Caregivers program. Volunteers will be trained and compensated for their work. Training begins April 1.


The NLC provides respite care to allow caregivers and families to receive a break. They want to provide support and relief for families and the caregivers they hire. For information, call 841-6033.




Smooth island sounds coming to the Warehouse


Whatever type of music you prefer, you just may hear it as Adrian Xavier performs Friday as the United Students of Western Nevada College brings the singer to the Warehouse on Highway 50 East.


Fans say Xavier's music has elements of reggae, world beat, folk, soul, jazz, rock and hip-hop, all infused with a warm island feeling that makes audiences think of a tropical vacation.


He is well-known in Washington and Oregon as a founding member of the band Pure Water. Cost for the 7 p.m. show is $10, or $5 with a WNC student ID. The Warehouse is at 3579 Highway 50 East. Call 445-3323.




Junior Ski/Snowboard Program canceled for Easter holiday


There will be no Carson City Recreation Junior Ski/Snowboard Program today because of the Easter Sunday holiday.

Minden


David Lindley in concert with Danny O'Keefe


The Carson Valley Arts Council will present multi-instrumentalist David Lindley at 7 p.m. Friday at the CVIC Hall, 1604 Esmeralda in Minden.


He will reunite with fellow musician Danny O'Keefe for an event that, in O'Keefe's words, "promises to be a most interesting evening."


Wine, beer, water, soft drinks and hors d'oeuvres will be available after 6 p.m.; stay and chat over dessert after the concert.


Admission is a $15 donation at the door. All proceeds benefit the Carson Valley Arts Council.

Lake Tahoe


Hip-hop show in South Lake Tahoe tonight


Late-Nite Productions presents the "Rehab 2008 U.S. Tour" featuring Southern California's hip-hop heavyweights, Tha Alkaholiks today at Whiskey Dick's Saloon, 2660 Lake Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe.


This 21-and-older show will also feature Starski, Animal Farm, DJ Wicked and L-Toka. Advance tickets are available for $18 at Whiskey Dick's or online at www.Ticketweb.com and will be available for $20 at the door.


Itals to play at Tahoe Biltmore Tuesday


The Itals featuring Keith Porter will appear at Tahoe Biltmore in Crystal Bay on Tuesday. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. and the music starts at 9:30. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 day of show.


Tahoe Biltmore is an age 21-plus venue.
