Public workshop to discuss flooding and floodplain protection


Carson Water Subconservancy District will hold a public workshop 6-8 p.m., Wednesday at the Carson City Public Library, 900 N. Roop St., to gain feedback from the general public on the draft Regional Floodplain Management Plan for the Carson River Watershed. For information, call 887-7450.

Carson City Democrats will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the AFSCME, Local 4041 office, 709 E. Robinson St. Nevada Democratic State Party Rural Nevada Organizer, Cindi Trigg is guest speaker.

Misfits Theater Group holds auditions


The Misfits Theater Group will hold open auditions for the classic melodrama, "The Perils of Pusher" 7 p.m., Monday at the Dayton Library, 321 Dayton Valley Road.


The historical plot involves a most rotten rascal on the railroad who schemes to relieve the honest stationmaster of the company's construction funds. Play director Tony Thornburg is seeking four female and four male actors, a pianist, as well as set and production workers. For information, call 246-9622.

Big Mama's Show and Shine Car Show


Douglas County Senior Services hosts their annual Big Mama's Show and Shine Car Show, Saturday, May 10, Lampe Park Pavilion, Gardnerville.


Check-in is from 8-10 a.m., Show and Shine 10 a.m.-2 p.m.; awards presentation 3 p.m. Pre-registration is $35 and $40 with lunch tickets. Red's Old 395 Grill will be cooking pulled pork sandwiches and brats. Music from "TimeWarp," craft vendor faire, day long raffle.
