Windy day ahead; chance of showers tonight

Today's weather will be windy with areas of blowing dust in the afternoon. Partly cloudy in the morning then mostly cloudy in the afternoon with highs 78-88 and west winds around 10 mph increasing to southwest 20-30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight, mostly cloudy and windy with areas of blowing dust in the evening with scattered showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the evening. Lows 39-49 with west winds 20-30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph becoming northwest 10-15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph after midnight.

Road work continues in Carson City with areas of delays, mainly Fairview Drive between Roop Street and South Edmonds, and Highway 50 East between Airport Road and Saliman Road.

Traffic will be controlled at times; alternate routes are advised.

The Nevada Department of Transportation at 6:23 a.m. reports all routes open in Northern Nevada with no controls with the exception of Highway 395:

Open with high wind advisory: campers and trailers are not advised for 6 miles between Eastlake Boulevard and Winters Ranch in Washoe Valley.
