Snow, wind in forecast for Carson City

Weather for the Carson City area today will be windy with areas of blowing dust in the morning with scattered showers and numerous snow showers in the afternoon with snow level lowering to the valley floor. Highs 42-52 with northwest winds 20-30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph.

Tonight, windy with snow showers then scattered snow showers after midnight. Lows 16-26 with northwest winds 20-30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph shifting to the north 15-20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph after midnight.

Wednesday, breezy and mostly cloudy with a slight chance of snow showers. Highs 38-48 with north winds 15-25 mph with gusts up to 30 mph increasing to 45 mph in the afternoon.

The Nevada Department of Transportation reports at 5:33 a.m. all roads open with no controls with the following exception:

Highway 395 through Washoe Valley: High wind advisory in effect. Campers and trailers not advised for 6 miles between East Lake Boulevard and Winters Ranch.

Utility work is being done on Corbett and East John streets off North Roop Street.

Road work continues in Carson City with areas of delays, as with East Fifth Street from Saliman Road to Fairview Drive.

Work on Highway 50 in east Carson City and Mound House continues with posted lower speed limits and narrow lanes just east of Flint Drive.
