CHS frosh football roll to another win

Dylan Sawyers had another huge game as the Carson High freshmen football team rolled to a 35-6 win over Galena on Thursday.

Sawyers rushed for 234 yards and scored all five touchdowns for CHS (6-1, 5-0 in the Sierra League). He scored three touchdowns on offense, recovered a fumble for a touchdown and returned an interception for a touchdown.

Also for Carson, Austin Pacheco had an interception and was 5-for-5 on extra points, Logan Peternell blocked a punt and played well defensively, Jake Myers and Jordan Siembida each had fumble recoveries and Nick Hershman played well defensively. Carson's offensive line led by Zach White and Stephen Anderson also played well.

Late registration for youth basketball

Late registration for the Carson City Recreation Division's youth basketball league is now ongoing.

Late registration is being held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Carson City Community Center office and will end on Wednesday, Nov. 5. The league is open to boys and girls in first through eighth grades.

Cost is $55 for one child, $100 for two children in the same family and $140 for three children in the same family. League play begins January 10 and practice begins November 10.
