Dr. D. Banks McKenzie delivered his farewell temperance lecture at the hall last night to an undiminished and interested audience. His remarks were addressed to the young men of this city, in which he exhorted them to abstain from the deceiving and ruinous cup while they yet possessed the power to do so. He also gave some sensible advise as to how the "Reform Clubs" should be conducted.

While a few people are registering a roar over a proposed vote over the establishment of a lottery, they overlooked the fact that several lotteries are being conducted in California without legislation and in secret defiance of the law. The people of California are hauling down a neat little dividend every month from the venturesome people of Nevada.

Members of the 20-30 Club committee in charge of the annual Easter egg hunt report satisfactory progress in arrangements. There will be a lot of eggs for the youngsters to find and merchants are liberal in providing gifts.

The state prison board may seek to acquire property adjacent to the prison to stop the land from being opened to small tract homesteading as proposed by the Bureau of Land Management.

An Assembly Transportation Committee has endorsed a bill to license small motor scooters in Nevada's three largest counties following an outcry that they "scare the bejabbers out of all of us," according to Assemblyman Bill Kissam of Las Vegas.

Gov. Kenny Guinn plans to stick to his election promises even if it means war with Democrats in the Legislature. The vows included running government as a business.
