In Loving Memory Marilyn Joy Larson
Marilyn, 75, passed away peacefully March 18, 2009 at St Mary's Hospital surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born in Pierre, S.D. to Byron L Larson and Doris Eleanor Brown Sept. 26, 1933. She grew up in Stewart and Carson City attending her last two years of high school at Wasatch Academy in Mount Pleasant, Utah. She graduated from Arizona State University in 1955 and taught English and Art in Casa Grande and Buckeye, Ariz..
In 1970, she moved to California where she worked for the Airport Marina in Burlingame. She returned to Carson City in 1973 and taught Art at the Carson Junior High School and later learned tax preparation and became an enrolled agent. She retired in 2005 in Sparks where she lived with her daughter.
She had an adventurous spirit and liked driving fast cars, and a passion for ice-skating, ballet, opera, and playing the piano. She was very artistic and did everything to perfection, whether it was sewing, knitting, crocheting, beading and needle point, only to name a few. She loved her travels to New York, Italy, Hawaii, the Bahamas and Norway.
Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Dana Lynn Garrett and son, Brett William Garrett, a grandson, Derek Rubel Archuleta, great-granddaughter, Alyssa Marie Kerr-Archuleta, cousins, Catherine L Mills and Gorden W. Cole and other cousins.
A service and celebration will be 2 p.m., Saturday, April 18 at the Presbyterian Church, 306 W. Musser St., Carson City.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in her name to Susan G Komen for the Cure at Komen.org
