RENO " The Nevada Highway Patrol says a quarter-ton hog apparently fell from a moving vehicle on a busy Reno freeway and was seriously injured before it was killed by troopers.
The incident kept one lane of Interstate 80 closed for about a half hour during the this morning commute.
NHP spokesman Chuck Allen says the animal, estimated at 500 pounds, had at least one broken leg and was in obvious distress when troopers arrived on the scene and shot it.
It wasn't clear if it had been struck by vehicles.
No one stopped to claim the pig, and Allen said the driver of the vehicle may not have been aware they had lost their cargo.
