Gov. Jim Gibbons directed the flags at the Capitol Building be at half staff Wednesday in remembrance of Corrections Officer Greg Farnsworth, who died Tuesday night after a fall at the Nevada State Prison.
Nevada Department of Corrections spokeswoman Suzanne Pardee said Farnsworth collapsed about 9:30 p.m. He was pronounced dead at 10 p.m.
"All indications are that he died of natural causes," Pardee said in a news release.
An employee of the prisons since 2004, Farnsworth was "well-respected and liked by his fellow employees," Pardee said.
NDOC Director Howard Skolnik has asked that flags be at half staff for the rest of the week.
Farnsworth is survived by a wife and two children.
