Senators finish near top at meet

The Carson High track teams took home second and third place finishes, respectively, Saturday at the Big George Invitational hosted by Douglas High.

The boys team finished second with 73 points as Damonte Ranch caputed the title with 145.5.

The Senators won the 4x800-meter relay with a time of 8:15.90, an improvement of more than 20 seconds from their seed time of 8:36. Robbie Barlow was the only individual winner for Carson. He took the 800-meter title with a time of 2:02.81.

The girls team finished third with 94 points. While Douglas easily captured the title with 236.41 points and Damonte Ranch had 94.

The girls had just one first-place finish, the 4x200 meter relay where they came in at 1:47.30, about two seconds ahead of second place Douglas.

Swimming

A number of Carson swimmers took home wins a High Desert League meet Friday against Reno.

Kevin Dyer won the boys 200-yard free with a time of 1:56, while teammate Jacob Branco finished behind him at 2:05.60. Dyer also won the 500-yard free at 5:11.90.

Paul Chang took the 50-yard free at 23.12, Tim Grunert won the 100-yard breast (1:06.87) and the Senators won the 200-yard free relay at 1:39.70.

Of the girls winners were: Elizabeth Lewis (2:33.75) in the 200-yard individual medley and Samantha Tanner with a score of 124.55 in the 1-meter dive.
