The Carson 13-15 year old Babe Ruth team turned around an early lopsided contest to beat Truckee in a 16-14 sluggfest Friday at McQueen High School.

Carson trailed 8-1 before putting up six runs in the fifth and five more in the sixth to grab the lead.

It added four more in the seventh and Chance Quilling took the mound in the seventh to earn the save.

Carson (1-0) will play South Reno at 1 p.m. today at McQueen.

While the run total doesn't show it, there were some key defensive plays

Dion Copolous had four putouts from right field and Zachary White caught all seven innings, giving up just one passed ball and not letting a wild pitch passed.

"Their defense made it so we pulled (the win) out," coach Scott Moreland said.

Cody Scarlett earned the win and went 3 for 4 with three runs scored. Tommy Champion, Carter Nuckolls, Quilling had three hits each.

Champion added four RBIs and had two doubles.

Drew Moreland had a hit, two runs and an RBI.
