A Paiute made an unsuccessful attempt to assassinate old Chief Winnemucca at Virginia, yesterday afternoon. His wife was saved by Captain Sam, the Indian who started out to see the President, but didn't.

Is it proper to serve Limburger cheese to a select card party when prizes are given? Of course there is no question as to the right of the hostess to dish up Limburger when it is an informal function, but when prizes are in order it would seem quite proper to dispose of the Limburger. This, however, is not authoritative as our regular society editor is out and the opinion is given by the agricultural editor.

A fire in the brush a couple blocks southeast of the main building at the Nevada orphan's home threatened some of the buildings this forenoon, but the flames were soon controlled by the Carson fire department. The Warrens spent about one and one-half hours in extinguishing the fire. Some fencing was slightly damaged.

Carson's old police car - a 1958 Chevrolet with 100,000 miles on the speedometer - sold for top price at the state purchasing agency auction in Reno Saturday. The car brought $1,050.

Juveniles that allegedly planned to toilet paper Carson Junior High School were arrested this morning by sheriff's deputies. Deputies responded to a report of a large gathering of juveniles at the school. When they arrived, the teenagers hid. Several rolls of toilet paper and raw eggs were confiscated.
