Bad Men About: Burglaries and robberies are daily becoming more frequent in Carson. During the past few nights there were at least a half dozen burglaries in this City and Empire. The Morning Appeal is and always has been a strong advocate of law and order, but if the authorities are powerless to check the lawlessness in our midst, the citizens will have to take the matter in hand themselves and rid the town of the many worthless characters now prowling within its limits.

100 years ago

Last Lesson to be given by Miss Tracy. The cooking lessons next Saturday afternoon will be the last in a series given under the auspices of the Carson City Coal Gas Company. It was the object of these lessons to teach the practical and economical use of the gas range by Miss Tracy. At her lesson Miss Tracy will make salad, chicken timbale, chicken croquettes, cream puffs and frail chops.

Agreement on the Arizona-Nevada boundary along a 15-mile strip of the Colorado River is near completion. The boundary will be set at the middle of the river, now placed in an exact channel by action of the federal Bureau of Land Management.

In recognition of years of service to Carson City, Leona B. Wood has been named honorary wagon master at the 1989 Kit Carson Rendezvous Wagon Train.

10 years ago

A dozen high school students who never thought they'd graduate got their chance from the inaugural class of the Alternative High School in Carson City.
