RENO (AP) - Nevada regents meeting in Las Vegas will consider higher tuition for students and lower pay for university and community college employees to balance a 12.5 percent budget cut imposed by the Legislature.
Regents last year approved a 5 percent tuition hike, and will consider an additional 5 percent increase that would take effect this fall.
The board also is expected to appoint vice chancellor and former regent Dan Klaich to succeed Chancellor Jim Rogers, who is stepping down.
Also on the agenda is a five-year contract for University of Nevada, Reno basketball coach David Carter.
The proposal provides a salary of $275,000, with $25,000 annually for radio and television appearances and other perks.
Carter replaced Mark Fox, who resigned in April to become head coach at the University of Georgia.
