Carson Valley AYSO tryouts Saturday

Douglas Shooting Range to be closed

Because of repair work being done on the protective cap at the Douglas County Landfill, the Douglas County Shooting Range will be closed Monday through Thursday beginning July 6 through July 30. The range will be available for use Friday, Saturday and Sunday during this temporary closure. For information, call 782-9828.

Donate old sneakers for recycling

Donate your sneakers to be reused or recycled. Now through Sept. 4 used athletic shoes can be dropped off for recycling at Fleet Feet, 3246 N. Carson St., No. 121 or Out of Bounds 3179 S. Carson Street. Since 1993 Nike has been running a program called Reuse-A-Shoe, collecting old sneakers across the country and using the material to make sports surfaces like basketball courts, tennis courts and running tracks. Carson library to close on July 4

Carson City Library will be closed Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4 in recognition of the Independence Day holiday. The library will reopen at 10 a.m., Monday, July 6.
