Former Carson player joins women's pro soccer league
Former Carson soccer player Sarah Stalling will become one of the first members of the Portland Rain, the newest addition to the Women's Premier Soccer League, which begins its inaugural season this month.
Stalin was a key member of last year's Northwest Christian University squad that scored a school-record 30 goals and won five games.
"Sarah was a great scorer in junior college and that's why we recruited her to come and play here at NCU, unfortunately she injured her knee during the first game of the season two years ago and missed all of that year," said NCU soccer coach Jonathan Rea "Last season she was still finding herself, but what a great success story to come all the way back, go and tryout with a women's professional team and make the roster. It is a testament to her hard work, dedication and perseverance."
APA forming teams in Carson area
The APA Pool League is now forming teams throughout the Carson City area under the guidance of franchisees Seth and Heather Allison.
"Playing in APA Pool Leagues is a great way to meet people and have fun," said Allison. "Players of all skill levels " even beginners " are welcome! We're just looking for people who want to get out and have a good time.
Each APA Pool League team consists of five to eight amateur players who compete seasonally or year-round in weekly league play. The APA's handicap system, The Equalizer, gives amateur players the opportunity to compete equally with players of different levels of skill. By participating in weekly league play, members can qualify to compete in three National Championships that award nearly $1.5 million in guaranteed cash and prizes every year.
The APA produces three major tournaments each year"the APA National Team Championships, the APA National Singles Championships and the U.S. Amateur Championship"that, together, pay out nearly $1.5 million in cash and prizes annually.
