Harry J. Dickson, 82, passed away in Reno Oct. 31, 2009. Harry was born Feb. 11, 1927 in Leadville, Colo. to Clement and Beulah Dickson.
He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho and his Masters in School Administration from the University of Nevada, Reno.
Harry moved to Carson City in 1957 from Ontario, Ore. He was a founding member of the Carson City Elks. He loved coaching and watching football, enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
After moving to Carson City Harry started out as a Social Studies teacher and football coach at Carson High in 1957. He was promoted to Vice-Principal and Athletic Director at Carson High. He then became Director of Special Services which included the hot lunch program, nurses, custodians, transportation, etc. for the Carson City School District. He later became the Assistant Superintendent of Carson City School District and then Superintendent of Carson City School District. Harry retired in 1990 with over thirty-eight years dedicated to the education field.
Harry was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Dickson who passed away in 1986.
He will dearly missed by his daughters, Celeste Bass of Fallon, Lisa Kingsley (Larry) of Carson City; son Kevin Dickson (Donna) of Modesto, Calif.; brother, DuWayne Dickson of Campbell, Calif.; two sisters, Marie Slattery of Stellacoom, Wash. and Sharon North of Boise, Idaho; six grandchildren and several great- grandchildren.
A funeral service for Harry will be 1 p.m., Saturday Walton's Chapel in Carson City.
