Rifle range to be closed on Tuesday
The Carson City Rifle and Pistol Range will be closed to the public 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 10. The range will reopen for normal operations after 3 p.m., Tuesday. The Carson City Parks and Recreation Department will be cleaning the facility and hauling trash and debris from the site. The range is located at 4000 Flint Drive. Dayton Valley Family Fest at golf course
Come out to the Dayton Valley Golf Course 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7 for Dayton Valley Family Festival.
The festival features a DJ and live music, food, chili cook-off and tasting, bake sale with judging, yard sale and craft fair, horseshoe tournament, golf and basketball challenges, kids activities, raffles and silent auction.
All proceeds go to benefit baby Tascani in helping her fight a severe brain tumor.

Oil painting class hosted by WNC
Western Nevada College Carson City will offer one-day, non-credit oil painting classes using the Bob Ross Method. Instructor Linda Yiesley will teach students how to complete a painting during this four-hour class. Materials are included.

Grant deadline extended to Nov. 12
The deadline for seeking grants under the federal STOP Violence Against Women program has been extended to Nov. 12.
Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto said the program is designed to encourage more effective law enforcement, court and prosecutions of violent crimes against women. Application packets for the grants program are available on the attorney general's web page at ag.state.nv.us under the Upcoming Events tab.
