TOCCATA presents Messiah concert series

Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus kicks off its 2010-11 Winter MusicFest with a program featuring selections from Handel's Messiah along with many holiday favorites.

The six-concert series includes a collaboration with the Carson High Concert Choir at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 21 at the Carson City Community Center. The production will be a fundraiser for the choir.

Additional performances are 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Reno; 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in South Lake; 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18 St. Francis of Assisi Church in Incline Village; 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19 at Squaw Creek Resort in Olympic Valley, Calif.; and 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 26 at Christ the King Lutheran in Tahoe City.

The Truckee Tahoe Community Chorus will collaborate with Toccata on the Dec. 15 and 19 performances and the Sierra Nevada College Choir will collaborate on the Dec. 17 and 18 concerts.

Tickets are $35 preferred, $20 adults, $15 seniors, $5 students with children under 12 free.
