130 YEARS AGO

(Continued from Friday) With an arrow passing through the bowels of Major Ormsby, he passed his hand back to his hip in an attempt to draw a weapon when a second Indian rushed up and emptied the contents of his six-shooter into the dying man. It was then a boy rushed up with a six shooter and put himself between the Indian and Ormsby. He was shot in the leg and in loosing his grip on the bridle, was killed when he fell to the ground. 100 YEARS AGO

Several of the Empire boys came up from the riverside port today and were looking for Ollie Tennant as they want to petition a fog horn at their city. The fog has rolled in so thick and fast that it has been impossible to carry on traffic on the river front.

70 YEARS AGO

Youths who looted summer homes at Elk Point at Lake Tahoe were held in Sacramento through to Rubicon Point. The officers had no clue as to the robbers until items started turning up in Placerville and Sacramento. The boys started their stealing spree in New York by taking a car.

50 YEARS AGO

State park director William Hart will give his opinions on the disposition of the chamber of commerce V&T train. The old train has been undergoing major vandalism at the present location.

20 YEARS AGO

A shift in public awareness has caused drunken driving deaths to decrease 12 percent in seven

years.

10 YEARS AGO

A new storm is expected to drop at least five inches in the Sierra.
