The Carson City Convention & Visitors Bureau was awarded $14,000 in grants last week from the Nevada Commission on Tourism for three marketing efforts, providing support for the Divine Nine Golf Cooperative, CCCVB website and the Virginia & Truckee Railway.

The CCCVB will give $3,000 to the Divine Nine for advertising to increase visibility of the region's nine golf courses: Carson Valley, Dayton Valley, Eagle Valley East and Eagle Valley West, Empire Ranch, Genoa Lakes and Genoa Resort, Silver Oak and Sunridge.

Also, $5,000 will be used for video production and website updates for the bureau.

The V&T Railroad campaign will receive $6,000 for advertising and collateral to be utilized in 2011.

"We look forward to utilizing the NCOT funding to further promote the area's attractions to our visitors," said Candy Duncan, CCCVB's executive director. "Tourism is a staple of the Carson City economy, so we'll put these dollars to work generating lodging occupancy and guests for local attractions and amenities."
