Five people were injured today, including two children, when a west-bound sedan collided with a van on Highway 50 in Mound House.

The collision happened at 3:35 p.m., backing up west-bound traffic as first responders tended to the occupants, including two children, ages 8 and 10, and two adults in the brown sedan. The white van had one occupant.

All were sent to Carson Tahoe Regional Healthcare in Carson City with minor injuries, the highway patrol said.

The van was turning left off of Red Rock Road to go east on Highway 50 when the west-bound sedan collided with it.

Police said no alcohol or drugs were involved.
