Five people were injured on Monday, including two children, when a westbound sedan collided with a van on Highway 50 in Mound House.

The collision happened at 3:35 p.m., backing up westbound traffic as first responders tended to the occupants, including two children, ages 8 and 10, and two adults in the brown sedan.

The white van had one occupant.

All were sent to Carson Tahoe Regional Healthcare in Carson City with minor injuries, the highway patrol said.

The van was turning left off of Red Rock Road to go east on Highway 50 when the sedan collided with it.

Police said no alcohol or drugs were involved.
