Carson culinary teams win state titles

Carson High School won a double state championship at the eighth annual Nevada ProStart Invitational at Truckee Meadows Community College in Reno on Tuesday.

The hot foods team of Collin Grischott, Sean Weekley, Robyn Gowan and Zack Brockmeier bested 28 other teams from the state. The group had to prepare a three-course meal in 60 minutes.

The management team consisting of Brandon Gray, Mark Rogers, Brittney Hensley and Cameron Childers were tops amongst 14 others teams. The team had to give a written and verbal presentation of unique restaurant concept.

ProStart is a career-building program of the National Restaurant Association that offers classroom study, mentored work experience, and local and national competitions.
