Carson City Health Department's food-service inspections for Jan. 11-13 (all scores are on a 100-point scale, with points deducted depending on the severity of violations:
• Maverick #409 Convenience Store, 1451 College Parkway, scored 95 points. Hot holding unit not holding food at 140 F or above. Unit temperature 160 F at the heating source. Egg sandwich internal temperature of 113 F. Cold holding units do not hold food cold at outer edges. Two products found were 45 F or above.
• Slotworld Restaurant Caravan Cafe, 3879 Hwy. 50 E., scored 99 points. Cloths used on food-contact surfaces are not clean, do not contain sanitizer residual or are not used properly.
• Taqueria La Salsa Restaurant, 1946 Hwy. 50 E., scored 88 points. Found cooked, shredded meats (chicken, beef and pork) in containers on the make-up unit with internal temperatures of 49-50 F. The ambient temperature inside this unit is at 45 F. Meats were placed in these containers at 11-11:30 a.m. In the large reach-in unit, there were three large covered containers of sauces at temperatures of 128-133 F, 91.6 F and 94.5 F, respectively. The ambient air temperature inside the make-up reach-in holding the discarded meats is currently at 45 F.
