James W. Mathis, 76, died Nov. 13, 2010 in Carson City. He was born in Franklin, Ind., on Jan. 31, 1934 to James W. and Alice Mathis. He was preceded in death by his son Anthony Rice and sister Phyllis. He is survived by wife Alma; daughter Nancy Garberson (Ronald); daughter-in-law Rhonda Rice; sister Nadine; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19 at Walton's Chapel of the Valley. Capitol City Cremation & Burial is in charge of arrangements.
