ADVOCATES TO END DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Thank you to Karl Neathammer who continues his passionate advocating to remind us that October is not only about breast cancer awareness but also about domestic violence.

What you can do to help?

Advocates to End Domestic Violence are always looking for dedicated volunteers willing to commit to training and working with the crisis hotline.

Volunteers receive 18 hours of intensive training, and calls are handled from your own home.

More than 105 volunteers are involved with helping domestic violence victims, sexual assault victims, fund-raising, and the Classy Seconds thrift shop located on Hot Springs Road.

FOSTER CHILDREN

HALLOWEEN PARTY

This event is held each year at a secure and safe indoor location for local foster children, thanks to Division of Child and Family Services and other State of Nevada Human and Health Service employees who purchase a supply of treats for children that might not be able to participate in an outdoor setting.

Each foster child can enjoy a good time and participate in a normal trick-or-treat night out.

Caseworkers' offices are transformed into an enchantment of themes from Disney to pirates caves.

If you would like to help in a donation of Halloween candy, drinks, pizza, etc., contact the number below.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT RUMMAGE CHALLENGE

The Food for Thought Rummage sale was a success, and I received a call from my friend Dana Whaley wanting to put out a challenge for other community members to help feed local children.

Of course, Dick Campagni was the first to step up.

Each of these great men handed a $500 check to Food for Thought program this past Saturday to help local children have the food they need.

If you're interested in helping out, send a check to Food for Thought. Again, thanks for all the help with reaching out and feeding children right here in our town.
