Obituary: Barbara Brust

Barbara Brust, 71, died Oct. 20, 2010, at Manor Care in Reno. Barbara was born June 18, 1939, in Elko to Pete and Adele Brust. She attended schools in Elko and graduated from Elko High School with the class of 1957. She attended the University of Nevada and then worked for the state of Nevada for two years. Barbara began a 30-year career with the Bureau of Land Management as a receptionist and legal clerk in the Elko office in 1963 and transferred to the Carson City office in 1976, retiring in 1993.

She always loved the Lawrence Welk Show, Days of Our Lives soap opera and Wheel of Fortune game show. She had a passion for USC football and would sing along every time the fight song was played. She appreciated her family and many friends, was proud of her Basque heritage, and was a very devoted aunt to her two nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her brother, Mitch (Pam) Brust, nephew Clay (Shannon) Brust, all of Reno and nephew Ryan (Heather) Brust of Boise, Idaho. She is also survived by two grandnephews and two grandnieces. Services are pending at Burns Funeral Home in Elko, with burial to follow in the Burns Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Vista Care Hospice, 1625 E. Prater Way, Suite C-108, Sparks, NV 89434-8963, or to a charity of your choice.
