130 YEARS AGO

To voters: In another column will be found the proclamation of Governor Kinkead in regard to the election next Tuesday. It should be re-read by all especially that portion which refers to illegal voting. Every man should see to his high privileges are not usurped by those who are not entitled to vote. Every voter should constitute himself a committee of one to preserve the purity of the ballot box.

100 YEARS AGO

Some queer deductions are being made from registration lists throughout the state. Tonopah and Goldfield have shown heavy decrease in voters. Reno is in the same fix. Ely has fallen off a bit. On the other hand the new camp at National will come in with quite a heavy vote as will Jarbidge and several other new camps.

70 YEARS AGO

Admission Day Program. 10 a.m. Parade. 12:30 p.m. Jackass Derby. 1 p.m. Speaking Program. 1:30 p.m. Wiskerino Contest, Indian Pageant, Old Timer's Program and Open House at the State Museum, and Rock Drilling on the Mint Building Grounds. 2 p.m. Review of troops at the Carson High Field by Gov. Carville. 2:30 p.m. Softball game Carson vs. Fallon. 6:30 p.m. Band Concert and Shell Oil Company's Fireworks at Winter's Field. 8 p.m. Style show of 1800s fashions and the Grand Military Ball at 8:30 p.m. At the civic Auditorium with awards presentations.

50 YEARS AGO

The annual celebration of Nevada Day this year marking the 96th anniversary to the Union will be heralded with three full days of activities. Some 60,000 celebrants from Nevada and neighboring states are expected.

20 YEARS AGO

The lawyer for longtime brothel owner Joe Conforte will ask a bankruptcy judge to be allowed to sell the defunct Mustang Ranch at auction. But that won't happen if the Internal Revenue Service has its way.
