Aces fall 18-13

to Sky Sox

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- An early seven-run Aces lead and the chance for a series sweep was spoiled by an eight-run fourth inning for Colorado Springs on Thursday, as the Sky Sox rallied past Reno, 18-13, at Security Service Field.

Reno jumped ahead early with a three-run first and plated five in the fourth to take 7-2 lead over the Sky Sox.

But the Colorado Springs offense, which had scored just six runs in the previous three games of the series, posted eight runs on seven hits in the home half of the fourth to climb out of its deficit and take a one-run lead.

Reno re-took the lead after scoring twice in the sixth, but the Sky Sox would push across eight more runs over the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to avoid the series sweep.

Andy Tracy, Cody Ransom and Wily Mo Pena homered for an Aces club that recorded 16 hits on the day. Three Aces-Collin Cowgill, Ransom and Pena-finished with three hits, and David Winfree drove in three runs. Tony Abreu hit a pinch-hit double in the eighth to extend his hitting streak to a season-long seven- games.
