Carson City artist Christopher Moltz's exhibit of photorealistic images of animals and people, "Realism in Pencil," is featured this month at Backseat Gallery, inside Comma Coffee, 312 S. Carson St.
An artist's reception will take place 5-7 p.m. today at the gallery.
Moltz gets his inspiration from animals and people due to the emotion they portray through facial expression and body language. Eight pictures, all in pencil, will be on display showing his talent for stunning realism.
Unlike many pencil-artists who use many different shades of pencil, Moltz uses one; often a standard No. 2, which shows off his shading skills and eye for dark and light textures. A University of Nevada, Reno graduate with a degree in civil engineering, he shows technical precision of engineering in his work.
