Western Nevada College left baserunners stranded in its final two at-bats and dropped a 3-1 decision to host Central Arizona College in a nonconference baseball game Thursday afternoon.

Western finishes its five-game Arizona road trip with a doubleheader against Yavapai today at 11 a.m.

"It was a good ballgame," said WNC coach D.J. Whittemore. "W swung the bats pretty well, pitched really well and were fairly clean in the field."

WNC left runners at second and third in the eighth, and then left the bases jammed in the top of the ninth.

The lack of execution ruined a great pitching performance by Brandon Jackson, who went the distance and allowed seven hits and struck out three. He gave the WNC bullpen a much-needed break.

Jon Sigado went 3-for-4 to lead the Wildc ats. Beau Day added two hits, while Bobby Tappin, Kevin Taylor and Chris Woolley added one each.
