Two wild horses were killed and one had to be put down after being struck by a vehicle Thursday night in Mound House.

According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, a 2003 Dodge pickup was eastbound on Highway 50 near Bunny Ranch Road about 7:30 p.m. when it struck the three horses in the roadway. The driver's name was not disclosed.

Two of the horses died upon impact. The third was critically injured and was shot and killed by an officer.

A brand inspector from the Nevada Department of Agriculture was called to handle the carcasses.
