Carson City Sheriff's Office hosting Business Academy

The Carson City Sheriff's Office is accepting registration for a so-called Business Academy to help business owners and managers understand the department's workings as well as help deputies understand businesses' needs.

The six-week class will be valuable to owners and managers of liquor stores, casinos, pawnshops, retail stores, restaurants and auto repair shops, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

The classes will be about two hours long, beginning at 6 p.m. every Wednesday. The first one will be April 4 in the Ormsby Room in the sheriff's office, 911 E. Musser St. Sheriff Ken Furlong also will be available to answer questions prior to each class.

To sign up, pick up an application at the sheriff's office or call Ken Smith at 283-7810. Applications will be taken until 5 p.m. on March 30.
