McDonald's holding 100% sales day for schools

McDonald's restaurants in Carson City, Minden, and Yerington are holding a 100 percent sales day for participating local schools on Wednesday to benefit school systems in the area.

Customers can purchase selected items and name the school they wish to benefit. Then, 100 percent of the sale of that product will be donated to the stated school.

"We love this community, and are committed to helping our schools receive the resources they need to help our kids grow and receive the best education possible," said Chris Kassity, local McDonald's restaurant owner from Carson City. "Our schools are in desperate need of funding right now."

In 2009, Chris Kassity and his wife, Sharon, started the Kassity Family School Fund, a non-profit organization with a mission to assist local schools with funding. The program enables customers to come into McDonald's restaurants owned by the Kassitys, purchase select items on the menu, and then 25 cents of each item ordered goes back to the customer's school of choice. 100 percent sales day will allow the entire sale to go directly to the school. These select items are: Any Premium Chicken Salad; any size Shake or McFlurry® or Real Fruit Smoothi; any Iced or Hot McCafe drink or Hot Chocolate; any Happy Meal or Mini Meal; any Snack Wrap®; Egg McMuffin® Sandwich or Oatmeal.

"We encourage everyone in the area to come to our restaurants, and help out our schools," Kassity continued. "It's important that we all work together to make our community better. We are just trying to do our part."
