Suspects sought in burglary of Carson City residence

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is looking to identify two individuals suspected of robbing a Northgate residence Friday morning.

Security cameras from the house caught two people, a male and a female, taking items and leaving in a late model black Kia. The residents said they believe the robbery occurred sometime between 8:10 and 10:45 a.m., and suspect the two came back to the house nearly two hours after the initial entrance into the house.

It was estimated the suspects got away with more than $10,000 worth of items form the home.

Officials have identified some persons of interest in the case; however they are still trying to gather more information.

“We are receiving tips on people and vehicles that match the description, but this does remain open and we need anyone who has information to contact us,” Sheriff Ken Furlong said. “We are pursuing people but we have not narrowed it down to consider anyone as a suspect at this time.”

Furlong said this incident looks similar to other incidents in the region and advises residents to be cautious and secure homes when they leave. Furlong said they didn’t see any signs of forced entry at the home.

“We just want to remind everyone to make sure when you leave for work, your homes are secure, especially areas like doggy doors because they are vulnerable spots,” Furlong said. “It sounds brazen for them to do this in the daylight, but this time of the year it is common around the holidays.”

He said if anyone sees suspicious activity at a residence while the homeowners are away to contact the Sheriff’s Office and they are happy to respond to all calls of that nature, especially during the holidays.
