The 3rd and Curry St. Farmer’s Market inspired one Carson City artist to make Farm to Market, a series of prints that features an artistic take on the fruits and vegetables that make their way onto many market tables.
Carol Brown grew up on a country farm, where she helped with the chores and garden.
“I associate hard work with farm life and today I work very differently in my studio creating relief prints, handmade paper, collage and handmade books. Working in the art studio is fun. If I can’t grow fruits and vegetables, I can draw and print them.”
Brown’s series of original prints is being displayed at Comma Coffee, 213 S. Carson St., across from the Legislative Building, where a reception will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 1. Admission to the exhibition and reception are free.
Brown will be selling her work at the 3rd and Curry St. Farmer’s Market, which runs from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. Her work is also available in the Artisan Store at the Brewery Arts Center, where she also teaches book art and handmade paper workshops.
The Backseat Gallery is a project sponsored and hosted by Comma Coffee. It presents month-long exhibitions of work by regional artists.
