Saturday is the first of the summer free in-the-park concerts featuring Jefferey Broussard and the Creole Cowboys.

The performance will be on the Centennial Stage in Oats Park in front of the Art Center and will begin at 7:30 p.m. It’s an opportunity to get together with family and friends, perhaps bring a picnic supper, and enjoy and evening of outstanding Zydeco/Cajun music under the stars.

The Art Center’s galleries and Art Bar will be open following the performance. For more information on the concert, you can call Churchill Arts at 774-423-1440 or email charts@phonewave.net

There will also be a number of Live Local Fallon activities going on the park throughout the day. At the free Live Local BBQ from 3-7 p.m. there will be free hotdogs, ice cream, bounce houses and swimming. There will also be a drawing for a variety of prizes, donated by local businesses, from the Live Local Prize catalog.

Participating businesses are invited to set up booths or activities in the park or advertise services during the daylong festivities. Additional food and beverages will also be available for purchase to benefit the Fallon Youth Club beginning at 6 p.m.

For information on Live Local activities you can call 775-423-4556 or email Rick Gray at rick@visitfallonnevada.com

The dates have been set for the Churchill Arts Council’s popular Lariat Courtyard ArtMart, which showcases works by local artists/artisans over the course of the summer.

The events will be held every Thursday evening from Aug. 13 through Sept. 24 from 5 to 8 p.m. The last ArtMart of the season will be Ales for Arts on Oct. 2.

These events will feature live music by local musicians and a variety of crafty cocktails, beer and wine will also be available for purchase.

Anyone who is interested in showing their artwork and/or hand-crafted or home-grown items is encouraged to contact Churchill Arts at the phone or email above to receive a registration form.
