Carson City United Latino Community seeks volunteers to teach English

United Latino Community, 1711 N. Roop St., is offering a free tutor training workshop from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Tuesday.

United Latino Community volunteers say there are more than 100 adults in Carson City who are seeking to learn how to speak, read and write in English.

The training covers how to teach basic English to adults on a one-on-one basis. Neither experience nor foreign language skills are required, but a commitment of 1-2 hours per week is expected. Instructional materials, training and light snacks are provided at no charge.
