Nevada’s oldest operating hotel, established in 1861, is reopening Friday after a three-month renovation and remodel of the restaurant, lounge, bar and hotel.

New owners of the Gold Hill Hotel and Crown Point Restaurant, Robert and Nikki Wilkenson, also owners of Palace Restaurant in Virginia City and Heidi’s Family Restaurant in Carson City, said they wanted to complete the renovation to modernize the look of the historic property while remaining true to its Comstock and Gold Hill heritage.

Renovations included new furniture, paint with added wainscoting and historic photographs. The lounge is updated with new furniture and historic accent pieces found in storage. The historic bar was opened up by removing cabinetry and incorporating Gold Hill memorabilia. The hotel rooms, currently available for guests, are under renovation with a target date of late summer.

The restaurant is open from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday through Monday. Bar hours are 4-11 p.m. daily. Reservations are recommended for the Crown Point Restaurant; call 775-847-0111.
