A Carson City woman who last year, at age 70, decided to pick up a paintbrush for the first time, is hosting her first exhibit of landscape oil paintings through May at Comma Coffee.

Rosie L. Laird, 71, says everything she knows about painting is self-taught.

“This is the first time I’ve ever shown my paintings. They’re all landscapes — mountains, snow, water, Tahoe, they’re all about the outdoors,” she said.

Laird’s exhibit includes 22 original pieces, all of which are for sale.

For more information, call Laird at 775-883-2599.

Comma Coffee is at 312 S. Carson St., across from the Nevada Legislature.
