The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Carson City starting at 7 p.m. Monday and continuing through 10 a.m. Tuesday.
The advisory, which covers the Greater Reno-Carson City-Minden area, Western Nevada Basin and Range including Pyramid Lake and Northern Washoe County, said, “Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 4 inches. Up to 6 inches for higher terrain, including Virginia City.
“Plan on slippery road conditions. … Additional light snow is possible through the day Tuesday.”
Once the storm passes, low temperatures are expected to fall in the low teens and single digits before a warming trend starts Saturday.

Monday: A slight chance of snow after 4 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 40. West wind 10 to 15 mph becoming north in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Total daytime snow accumulation of around an inch possible.
Monday night: Snow, mainly after 10 p.m. Low around 18. Breezy, with a west wind 15 to 20 mph decreasing to 5 to 10 mph in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
Tuesday: Snow likely before 10 a.m., then snow showers likely, mainly between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 35. Calm wind becoming northwest around 5 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.
Tuesday night: A 20 percent chance of snow showers before 10 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 12. North wind around 5 mph.
Wednesday: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 32. North wind 5 to 10 mph.
Wednesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 8. Northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm.
Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 42.
