All pre-K, kindergarten, new and returning student updates and registrations for the Carson City School District will begin March 7.
This year, there are new kindergarten age requirements.
CCSD utilizes Infinite Campus for its student data information system. Parents and families of new and current students will use online registration through IC to provide and update student information.
“This year, there are new age deadlines for incoming kindergarten students, requiring them to be 5 years old on or before the first day of school, Monday, Aug. 15, 2022,” said Tasha Fuson, associate superintendent of educational services for the Carson City School District. “The previous age deadline was Sept. 30. We are trying to help dispel parent and family confusion when they register their child or children for school or conduct annual updates in Infinite Campus. Knowing when students qualify to enter pre-K or kindergarten is a big change this year, and we are anticipating a number of phone calls. Hopefully, this will help clarify new guidelines.”
Through IC, parents are able to verify all student demographic, emergency and medical information for their child prior to the start of the school year. The school sites need the most up-to-date family, address, phone, medical information and permissions from parents for students so that they can participate in field trips and other school-related activities as well as have media releases for photographs or videos of them participating in various school functions.
Children who will be 5 years old on or before Aug. 15 will be eligible for kindergarten for the 2022-23 school year. Some exceptions for the school year could apply to students who have completed a pre-K program and will be 5 by Sept. 30. Full-day kindergarten classes are offered at all elementary schools in Carson City. Contact your neighborhood school for more information:
