A storm forecast to arrive Saturday with gusty winds and precipitation will also drop temperatures, but not for long, according to the National Weather Service.
“A fast-moving storm system will move across the region this weekend, bringing breezy winds with chances for rain and snow Saturday into Saturday evening, followed by chilly conditions with brisk northwest to north winds Sunday,” the NWS said in a special weather statement posted
here at weather.gov.
Up to 6 inches of snow could fall in the highest elevations of the Sierra; less than 1 inch is expected in the foothills of western Nevada above 5,000 feet.
“Southwest to west winds Saturday with peak gusts 30-40 mph for lower elevations, 40-50 mph in wind prone areas, and 55-75 mph for Sierra ridges,” the NWS said.
Daytime high temperatures are projected to climb into the 70s by Wednesday.
